Maureen’s love for the outdoors began in Boise, Idaho, where she spent her childhood exploring the foothills and rivers. With over a decade of experience in the travel industry, she’s guided countless adventures, from hiking to cycling and paddling. Today, as Head of People Operations at Iconic, Maureen combines strategic leadership with a passion for crafting journeys that inspire personal growth and lasting connections
Growing up in Boise, Idaho, I was lucky enough to be surrounded by foothills and rivers, which sparked my love for the outdoors. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to explore all kinds of landscapes, from the rugged mountains of the U.S. to the tropical islands of Bali. As an adventure travel guide, I’ve hiked, biked, and paddled in places that pushed me to try new things and step out of my comfort zone. But the most rewarding part of it all? The connections I’ve made—whether it was with fellow travelers, locals, or the amazing guides I’ve worked alongside.
I’ve spent over a decade in the travel industry, first as a guide and later as a trip designer. My experience ranges from leading multi-sport trips in the U.S. and abroad to curating custom itineraries for all types of travelers. I’ve also had the privilege of working with various non-profits, where I designed programs that helped give people access to the outdoors and mobility—one of my favorite projects was distributing recycled bikes to communities in need. All of these roles have reinforced my belief that travel is about more than just seeing new places—it’s about learning, growing, and sharing experiences with others.
There’s no shortage of great adventures, but one that stands out was a month-long trip in Bali. I spent my days guiding clients on treks through rice terraces, visiting local villages, and hiking to hidden waterfalls. Even when I wasn’t working, I was exploring—finding the best hidden beaches or getting lost in Ubud’s markets. The whole experience felt like a constant reminder of how much adventure is out there, just waiting to be discovered.
